The Fundació Privada per a la Recerca Sant Joan de Déu is an entity created in 2002 to cover the research activity that is carried out, both in the biomedical and social sphere, at the Maternal and Infantile Hospital of Esplugues, in the Parc Sanitari de Sant Boi de Llobregat and in other centers of the Hospital Order San Juan de Dios - Province of Aragon San Rafael.

Job description

 

We are looking for a person to join the Research Promotion and Management team. The mission of this team is to support the research groups throughout the lifecycle of both national and international competitive research and innovation projects, ensuring their correct budgetary and regulatory execution.

The person will be the focal point for specific research groups for all aspects related to the detection of national funding opportunities and development of quality proposals. Once the funding is obtained, the person will assure regulatory compliance and manage the grants for optimal execution.

The person we are looking for must be proactive, responsible, used to working under the pressure of different deadlines and have good communication and interpersonal skills. Given the current diversity of calls for proposals, requirements from funders, norms and regulations applicable in the field of research, we need someone who is versatile and able to learn and adapt quickly to this ever-changing and demanding environment, putting into practice new knowledge with flexibility and rigor.

Tasks to be developed:

Pre-award

Main objectives: identify funding opportunities to secure the resources and continuity for the assigned research groups and project portfolio.

  • Tasks to be performed:
  • Get to know the research groups, theirs interests, their needs, their project portfolio.
  • Identify new areas, researchers and projects with potential.
  • Identify and promote participation in national calls suitable for the groups and projects to be developed.
  • Support in the elaboration of national proposals (analysis of the call, logistical and administrative support, elaboration/review of the budget, review of the adequacy of the proposal in relation to the evaluation criteria…).
  • Support in the elaboration of non-competitive funding applications (analysis of needs, elaboration/review of the budget, provide institutional information if necessary).
  • Review of collaboration agreements.
  • Attendance to conferences, information sessions and meetings of interest.
  • Organise informative seminars for researchers.

Post-award

Main objectives: to ensure the adequate execution of all assigned projects, following internal rules and procedures and of the Funding Institution.

  • Tasks to be performed:
  • Planning budget execution according to rules and procedures.
  • Follow-up the project and budget execution and the use of the resources.
  • Prepare economic project report.
  • Reference point between the principal investigator and the Funding Institution.
  • Interact between the implementation centre (hospital) and the Foundation in those projects where it is needed.
  • Reference point between the principal investigator and the Funding Institution.

 

Transversal Support to Research Groups:

Main objective: accompany and promote the growth of the assigned groups in the development of their research. Plan the necessary activities to ensure the stability and growth of the projects, personnel as well as follow-up of the expected results. Anticipate and define actions to increase the group's financing and resource options.

  • Tasks to be performed:
  • Plan meetings to evaluate the global vision of the group's status in terms of people, resources and commitments.
  • Analyse the evolution of the group and its main execution and quality indicators.
  • Establish actions to anticipate and maximize the possibilities of identifying new projects.
  • Identify needs to establish work plans with other departments such as International, Innovation, and Fundraising.

We offer:

  • Permanent employment contract with a trial period of 4 months.
  • Incorporation: during the month of February 2022.
  • Working day: Full time (37,5 hours)
  • Two positions will be created based in the following locations:
    • Esplugues de Llobregat next to the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu
    • Sant Boi de Llobregat next to Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu
  • Economic conditions according to profile and knowledge provided.

Requirements

Requirements

  • University degree.
  • Background in science and/or PhD will be valuable.
  • 2-4 years of experience in the management of national competitive calls for research projects in the biomedical field and the subsequent economic and administrative management of these projects.
  • Experience in calls such as ISCIII, MICINN, PERIS, AGAUR, FEDER, Next Generation EU will be valuable.
  • Experience in the management of large-scale projects, such as infrastructure projects, will be valuable.
  • Understanding and familiarity with the different aspects related to the management of the research that allow an integral assessment of the researcher: knowledge of the calls and evaluation criteria, instructions for execution and justification, budget planning, human resources planning, collaboration agreements, identification of results, applicable regulations.
  • Personal skills: We are looking for an autonomous and responsible professional with the ability to organize work, and time, as well as results and user-oriented. Proactive and with initiative, looking for improvement and efficiency in the processes. Also a dynamic person who has the ability to analyse a given situation and present solutions. The professional we are looking for must have excellent communication and interlocution skills at different levels (colleagues, researchers and funders), and be used to working under the pressure of maintaining and managing a portfolio of projects with different calls, different application and justification deadlines and different types of researchers.
