The Fundació Privada per a la Recerca Sant Joan de Déu is an entity created in 2002 to cover the research activity that is carried out, both in the biomedical and social sphere, at the Maternal and Infantile Hospital of Esplugues, in the Parc Sanitari de Sant Boi de Llobregat and in other centers of the Hospital Order San Juan de Dios - Province of Aragon San Rafael.

We are recruiting an outstanding candidate to participate in a project funded by the EU and other international and national institutions. Funding is already available for three years (initial salary range 27,000-30,000€ depending on experience).
The candidate will participate in The European Rare Diseases Research Alliance (ERDERA) funded by the EU and which aims to improve the health and well-being of the 30 million people living with a rare disease in Europe. In particular, you will play a key role in the development of RNA based therapies including CRISPR/Cas systems and antisense oligonucleotides for rare disease including Muscular Dystrophies. Our multidisciplinary group is dedicated to advancing biomedical research and developing novel therapies through cutting edge approaches and interdisciplinary collaboration. We work closely with leading academic institutions, hospitals, and industry partners to drive discoveries that translate into real-world medical advancements. The candidate will have the opportunity to gain specialized knowledge on muscle biology and neuromuscular diseases which is a fast-growing field where numerous clinical trials are being developed. He/she will have the opportunity to work in a thriving clinical research centre with state-of-the-art facilities.
Key responsibilities
- Participate in the European Rare Diseases Research Alliance (ERDERA) funded by the EU (https://erdera.org/) collaborating with major academic institutions in Europe and Pharma Industry.
- Conduct high-impact pre-clinical research on RNA and Lipid Nanoparticle based therapies for neuromuscular diseases.
- Design and execute experiments, analyze data, and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians, geneticists, and biotechnologists
- Engage in technology transfer and potential translational applications of research.
- Mentor junior researchers and contribute to grant writing efforts.
